Restyled and Expanded
James T. Davis Design Center

James T. Davis isn’t just about paint swatches—you can check out fabric and wallpaper swatches, too! They’ve restyled and expanded their home design center to showcase more fabrics, upholstery, wall coverings, window treatments, furniture and home accessories. Now, homeowners can see life-sized vignettes of wall coverings and fabrics displayed together and enlist the expertise of interior designers to create a design game plan for their home.

Staff designer Sarah Girten says, “Most homeowners already have great ideas for their home, but a designer helps them pull all the pieces together to customize their style. It can be overwhelming to try to do that on your own.”

In addition to offering in-home consultations, when the planning phase gets serious, designers can create room renderings to help homeowners visualize exactly what their new room will look like.

Visit the store, email or “like” the James T. Davis Design Center page on Facebook to receive your personal invitation (and a 30 percent off Design Center coupon!) to the design center’s grand re-opening celebration. Everyone who attends the party will automatically be entered for chances to win a $250 James T. Davis gift card and a $1000 credit towards Hunter Douglas Duette® honeycomb shades.

Pharsalia Celebrates!
200th Birthday Year Festivities

When it’s a milestone birthday, you deserve to celebrate all year long! Pharsalia, a 200-year-old Nelson County estate listed on both the National Register of Historic Places and the Virginia Landmarks Register, invites you to come out to the estate and celebrate with them at several fun events throughout the year.

Pharsalia is home to a working flower farm and their flowers can be bought on-site through the estate and at local farmers markets. Brides and bridesmaids have even been known to visit the flower farm before the wedding day to make their own bouquets and boutonnieres, fresh from the garden!
Throughout the year, Pharsalia hosts workshops on a variety of topics. This summer, check out:

Learn how to grow, harvest and use lavender in crafts and everyday recipes. From salad dressings to dessert, you will learn easy culinary tricks that will impress! Annie Greer Baggett from “sunshine lavender farm” will teach all about the many varieties of lavender that are grown in our region. A fresh-from-the-garden lunch and guided history tour of Pharsalia are included in the day’s activities.
Pharsalia is a favorite venue for private celebrations and special events. This year, as a part of its year-long 200th birthday celebration, Pharsalia is hosting a special event of
its own:

This happy event celebrates all things local! Dine on the front lawn of historic Pharsalia while being serenaded by local musicians. Enjoy locally-sourced food prepared by world-class chefs. Sample beer pairings by Devil’s Backbone Brewery (Nelson County) and wine pairings by Margaux and Company (Charlottesville). Rain or shine, it’s all presented under the cover of a beautiful Skyline Tent (Charlottesville).
